This December, holiday crowds can enjoy winter fun in a brand-new venue at the first-ever Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fairgrounds Holiday Craft Bazaar â€“ an event organizers hope to make a local holiday tradition.
After the Bishop Christmas Parade on Main Street, folks can haul family and friends over to the Holiday Craft Bazaar, which will offer shopping opportunities, hands-on crafting for youngsters, a chance to win prizes and a turn on Santaâ€™s knee.
The Holiday Craft Bazaar will be held from noon-6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 in the Tallman Pavilion building, just to the right of the fairgrounds office in the RV lot.
According to the key event organizer, fairgrounds secretary Charity Russell, the hope is the bazaar will become an annual event at the Tri-County Fairgrounds, not unlike the Home Show in May or the car show in October.
She said she came up with the idea to help fill the void in the winter time with something new for families to enjoy.
Like an ornament-laden Christmas tree, loaded with presents, vendor tables will be laden with holiday crafts items. There will be ornaments, cards, floral designs, and gift items, including trivets and fashion accessories, photographs and weight-loss coffee, Russell said.
Fairgrounds Office Manager Suzie Gruwell, event co-organizer, will help youngsters make their own creations at the Kidsâ€™ Crafts Corner. All materials will be provided free of charge to children of all ages.
When the kiddies arenâ€™t crafting, they can visit with Santa from 1-3 p.m. and when bazaar-goers arenâ€™t shopping, they can participate in chances to win door prizes and a quilt raffle, at this free-admission event.
Thereâ€™s still time for more vendors to get in on the festivities. â€śWe hope to have a full house,â€ť Russell said. Vendor registration will be ongoing at the fairgrounds office, on Sierra Street in Bishop, weekdays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The registration fee is $20 per table and the deadline is Thursday, Dec. 5. Registration forms are available at the office and can also be requested and submitted by email at email@example.com or fax at (760) 873-8874. Gruwell also directed people to visit the Fairgroundâ€™s Facebook page.
The Tallman Pavilion will be open for vendor set-up on Friday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday before the event from 8-10 a.m.
