The highly-praised Tahoe Carson Radiology practice has received notice this month that its contract to provide service at the Northern Inyo Hospital Radiology Department has been cancelled, to the dismay of some NIH medical staff.
On Oct. 16, the NIH Board of Directors approved the contract cancellation and gave TCR, of Carson City, Nev., a 90-day notice. NIH Director of Community Development, Marketing and Grant Writing Angie Aukee confirmed that TCRâs original contract to provide radiologist services began in January 2010 and will be cancelled effective Jan. 16, 2014. On Oct. 23, NIH Board President Dr. John Ungersma confirmed that the Board ârejected the contract without causeâ even though TCRâs contract had just been renewed this past April.
TCR Medical Director of Imaging Dr. Natalia Zarzhevsky, the practicing radiologist at NIH three weeks of each month, said TCR was âblind-sidedâ by the news, especially in the face of the âoverwhelming supportâ of many NIH medical staff.
