The aptly-named Texas tourney requires runners to round the bases backwards. Even by mid-afternoon Saturday, as the eight teams started their second round of games, runners were still heading down the first base line, catching themselves and cutting across the infield to third.
Just NDNs came out on top, beating the Jacksons in the final championship game on Sunday.
Eric Stone was chosen men’s MVP; Tiara Shoshone took the women’s honors.
Shoshone and Joe Montoya were recognized for racking up the most home runs during tournament games.
Doug Watterson was home run king at the end of the Home Run Derby held at the end of tournament play, Saturday night.
In addition to action on the field, wind gusts during the 4 p.m. match-up Saturday between Neil Jones and the Chuckawallies launched team tents and sent players scrambling for shelter, disrupting the game for roughly 10 minutes.
Funds raised by the tournament went to the Eastern Sierra Girls Softball League.
