William Gogesch

William Gogesch, 94, a resident of Bishop for five years and a former resident of Poland, was born in Campbell, Ohio on May 19, 1919. He passed away on June 14, 2013 at 2:35 a.m.
William was a natural athlete who loved long walks outdoors, fishing and rowing a boat or paddling a canoe for peace of mind. As a young man he enjoyed dancing to big band music and spending time at the boardwalk at Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio. After marrying and having a family, his great love was spending summer vacations with his wife, two children and dog at their cottage on Lake Erie.
He was equally comfortable rolling up his sleeves doing hard dirty work as he was setting the standard as a dapper dresser.
Like his World War II peers from The Greatest Generation, William was valiant, brave and tender-hearted at his core. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his son, William Gogesch, Jr. and his daughter, Gretchen Gogesch.

William Jr. (Billy) offers this special thanks:
For putting on your boots and fighting the Nazi scourge in Africa and Europe,
For putting on your boots to make the steel that built our cars, bridges and skyscrapers,
For meeting my mom and making a life for her and my sister and me,
And for everything else
Thank you, Dad.
May you rest in peace.

Local memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 8 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 162 Sneden Street.
