Lady Broncos beat Kern Valley

Lest we forget – the Bishop Lady Broncos softball team is number one in High Desert League with a 4-0 record following a 3-1 win over the Kern Valley Broncs Friday. The lead is currently shared with the Rosamond Roadrunners who are headed to Bishop City Park for a showdown this afternoon at 3:15 p.m. File submitted

Kern Valley has been in the Bishop softball team’s crosshairs since, probably, forever.
Friday afternoon at Lake Isabella, the Lady Broncos scored that long-awaited hit, taking down the Broncs, 3-1 to stay perfect in High Desert League play, tied 4-0 with Rosamond.
That tie will be broken this afternoon as Bishop hosts the Lady Roadrunners at City Park. First pitch: 3:15 p.m.
“We had great pitching,” said coach Stacy Van Nest. “We out hit the Broncs and played solid defense. I am so proud of our team for their great effort.”
Bishop scored in the fourth inning. KV came back to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth.
With two outs in the top of the seventh, the Broncos put 2 more runs on the board to take a 3-1 lead.
Kern had a runner on base in the bottom of the seventh, but Bishop closed out the game for the win and a piece of the top spot in league.
