The Lone Pine Lady Golden Eagles have been on a rampage, demolishing the Silver Valley Trojans 18-7 last Friday and sending the Mammoth Lady Huskies yelping back up the mountain Tuesday with a 23-8 win.
The Silver Valley win came after Lone Pine’s two-week spring break but there no signs of rust on the Eagles.
“We came out pretty strong,” said coach Liz Jones, “with 6 clean infield outs and only 2 errors.”
Amanda Barlese, with 4 hits on 5 at-bats, and Lacie Jones, at 3 for 4, led the hitting streak. “We racked up a total of 14 hits,” said Jones.
Tuesday’s rout of the Huskies played out in weather worse than most Eagles’ football games. “We had good heads-up base running,” said Jones.
Alyssa Lienneman went 3 for 4 with a pair of singles, a double and three stolen bases. Lacie Jones and Samantha Riesen were both strong at the plate.
A solid defense kept the Husky bats at bay.
