Harry LeRoy Whitman
The Lord chose Sunday, March 3, 2013 to quietly and peacefully bring Harry home after a year-long battle with cancer. The Lord had placed Harry on this sod on Feb. 17, 1948 to spend some time raising a beautiful family and doing a few things that God had planned for his life, including two years of service to our country in the U.S. Army.
Harry brought his young family to Tehachapi from Bishop in 1978. In December of that year we would open Old Towne True Value Hardware. After a few years he would leave the hardware business and go into the oil industry where he remained until his death.
His wife of 46 years, Glenna, was his best friend, but his two daughters, Dana and Stacey and his eight grandchildren, KCee, Christina, Dylan, Aryn, Owen, Lucy, Grace and Jackie were the loves of his life.
They were the cause of much joy and happiness for him.
Also survived is his brother, Tom, of Bishop, and numerous nieces and nephews. His church family at Christian Life Assembly was very important to him. He loved each and everyone as he loved the Lord.
His parents, Oliver and Dorothy, and sister, “Tootsie” preceded him in death.
We will miss Harry, but Heaven has its son home where he truly belongs.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christian Life Assembly in Tehachapi. Burial was at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Woods Family Funeral Service.
