Marie E. Spor
Marie E. Spor was called home to heaven on Feb. 18, 2013 in Bishop at Northern Inyo Hospital.
She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Nov. 15, 1930 to Orvis and Isabelle Myers where she grew up and attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic Academy.
She later met and married Lawrence Spor. Through more than 40 years of marriage, thick and thin, ups and downs, they were partners in life. Marie worked at Montgomery Pass in the cashier’s cage and later worked in Benton at the post office. She enjoyed getting to visit with everyone during her years there. She especially enjoyed being with her family and friends, singing and playing her guitar, her many pets, crocheting and penny slots.
In her younger years she enjoyed getting in the Toyota with Pa and kicking around in the hills. We will always remember her wonderful sense of humor and how she loved a good joke. Marie was always very generous with others and willing to help out in any way she could.
She leaves behind her sister, Rose Myers of Benton; her brother, Ray Myers of Fort Worth, Texas; stepchildren, Pat Bowman and Sandie Spor of Utah and Tony and Karen Spor of Arizona; daughter, Sandra Jacobsen of Grants Pass, Ore; grandchildren, Bill Davenport, Danielle Richardson and Kimberlee Spor; and three great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Spor; and their son, Larry Lee Spor.
She lived a good, long life filled with family and friends, love, and memories that will pass through the generations. Marie will be missed very much by her family and all who knew her.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Bishop Care Center for the outstanding care she was provided during her last days.
