Margarita Valenzuela
1910-2013
Margarita H. Valenzuela passed peacefully in her home on Feb. 15, 2013, surrounded by loved ones. Margarita was 102 years and eight months of age. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Catalino Valenzuela, who passed into Eternal Life in 1979.
Margarita was born June 10, 1910, in Tepic, Mexico, and has resided in Bishop for more than 50 years. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church. Margarita has many beloved friends and family who will celebrate her life and mourn her passing.
Margaritaâs family includes her stepdaughter, Agnes V. Delgado, who has three children: Juliana S. Lowden, Ignacio Delgado Jr., and Katrina A. Delgado. Agnesâs grandchildren include Michael Lowden and his wife and two children, Cassandra Lowden, and Ignacio Delgado Jr.âs children: Scott, Michael Allen and Michael G. Delgado; her nieces, Lorena and Ruby Guttierez; and her nephew, Ramon and Ester Hernandez. Margarita and Catalino were also god-parents to many of their friendâs children.
Margaritaâs Familia de Corazon, many of whom had known her for many years and referred to her with love as Mama and Abuelita, including Rosa and Nathan Defoy, Emilio Montano and his brothers, lifetime âgrandson,â Richard Walters, Diana and Robert Sanchez and their children, and Jovita Hernandez. Margarita was well-known throughout the Bishop community as a very kind and loving person. She brought joy and spiritual uplifting into the lives of everyone she met.
A Holy Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, located at 849 Home St. in Bishop, (760) 872-7231, on Feb. 21, 2013 before the interment. Father Gracey will preside over the services. Margaritaâs eternal resting place will be beside her beloved husband at East Line Street Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Parish Hall following the service.
Ignacio Jr.âs special prayer for Margarita is that he shared a special bond with her through his grandfather, Catalino, and promised to advocate for her and protect her from evil. He will miss her very much.
