Lorenzo Iturriria

Rosary was held Thursday, Feb. 7 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Lorenzo was born Jan. 9, 1936 in Almandoz, Spain, and passed away Feb. 3, 2013 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andres Iturriria and Lucrecia Iturriria; and his siblings, Luis Iturriria, Begonia Iturriria and Augustine Iturriria.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 49 years, Mary Ann Iturriria; his son, John Iturriria and wifeCharee Iturriria; grandsons, Shawn and Alex; daughter Julie Iturriria; and nieces and nephews in Bakersfield, Spain and France.
In 1954, Lorenzo immigrated to the United States to work for M&R Sheep Company as a Sheepherder. By 1962, through hard work and determination, he became partners with Joe Mendiburu and formed Inyo Sheep Company which lasted 30 years. Lorenzo also owned and operated J&L Livestock, which was his cattle operation in Bakersfield and Bishop. He retired from his business in 2006 due to his illness.
Lorenzo loved the livestock industry and this was his passion in life. He loved working with the animals and was always trying to improve his operation. Lorenzo spent many happy years in Lee Vining and Bishop which held so many fond memories for him.
He loved his family and took pride in providing for them. He will be greatly missed. Lorenzo was a member of the Kern County Wool Growers Association and Kern County Basque Club.
Pallbearers were Matt Iturriria, Miguel Iturriria, Fernando Iturriria, Paco Iturriria, Jose Mari Mendiburu and Juanito Mendiburu. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Giacomini, Emilio Collado, Ignacio Maisterrena, Mathew Etcheverry, Benny Ansolabehere and Don Schulte.
