Daisy Mae Johnson
1921-2013

Daisy Mae Johnson was born May 31, 1921 in Gladstone, Ore. to Lillian Bertha (Moore) Aitken and George Mitchell Aitken. Daisy passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 in Reno, Nev. She was 91 years of age.
Private burial took place Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 at the Cambria District Cemetery, Cambria, Calif. A celebration of Daisy’s life will be held at a date and place to be announced.
Daisy lived every day of her life to the fullest. She was a particularly avid world traveler. Until her final illness, she had an atlas within easy reach, to settle any question about one of her many destinations or waypoints. She was also an enthusiastically gifted Scrabble player and gracefully held center stage at the Bishop Senior Center, where she made many friends during the years she lived here. A day never passed without her telling her family how blessed she felt living in Bishop.
While a devoted mother and grandmother, she also found time for careers in real estate, as a businesswoman (Daisy’s Knit & Stitch in Cambria) and working for a time as a tour guide at the Hearst Castle, San Simeon, Calif. It was while a tour guide that she developed an appreciation for art and history that informed her travels.
Daisy was preceded in death by husbands, Stanley Hart and Robert Johnson. She is survived by her sons, Peter Hart of Bishop, Dan Hart of La Crescenta and Bob Johnson Jr. of Houston, Texas, and daughters-in-law, Colleen Hart and Pamala Johnson. She is also survived by her stepsons, Michael Johnson and Stephen Johnson, and stepdaughter, Deborah Sternhagen, as well as grandchildren, Mitchell Hart of Livermore, Katy Johnson and Travis Johnson of Houston, Texas, and her special little friend, Bigby.
