The Big Pine Warriors basketball team beat the Immanuel Christian Crusaders, 61-46, on home court Tuesday night.
Four of the five Warriors were in double digits; the fifth, freshman Austin Jones, came close with 9 points, including a 3-pointer and a perfect 2/2 from the line. Seniors Micah Bacoch and Parker Bear both had double/doubles with 13 and 11 rebounds, respectively.
It was a good night to be a Warrior.
The team, with only five players suited up all season, has had a rough, winless streak. Coach Darren Chirrick, as coaches do, kept saying the hard-charging team would score a win during league play. He was right on.
The Warriors finish up Hi-Lo League play tonight against a tough Baker team, details in Saturdayâs sports page.

Lady Warriors
The Lady Warriors started their season strong with double wins over the Mammoth Huskies in a pre-league game, then a win over the Lee Vining Tigers in their Hi-Lo League opener.
Plagued with the same non-bench as the boysâ team, the girls have had a tough time.
âWe played really good half-court defense,â said coach Dave Mettam of the Warriors 29-46 loss to the Lady Crusaders Tuesday, âbut gave up too many points on the fast break.â
The Warriors also got into foul trouble, not a big deal if youâve got a bench but disastrous without one.
âThis team continues to impress even though our record may not be the best,â said Mettam. Iâm proud of this team and what they are accomplishing as student athletes.â
