Robert A. Hudson

1928-2012

Bob was born in Lompoc on Jan. 29, 1928. He graduated from Lompoc Union High School in 1946 and got his BS at the University of California, Davis in 1951. He did post-graduate work at Fresno State. He was a photographer in the Navy and served on the USS Princeton during the Korean War. He worked for the United States Forest Service for 39 years in fire control in Oregon. He lived in Independence part-time since 1992 and then full-time when he retired in 1998.

Bob came by his love for the Sierra from childhood camping trips. His decision to retire here was based on this lifelong affinity. He loved hiking, birding and rafting and travelled all over the world in pursuit of these activities. Other big parts of his life were his love of classical music and landscape gardening. His yard in Independence is a testament to his success in growing native plants.

According to his wishes, Bob’s ashes were scattered at sea.

He will be remembered and missed by his many friends.
