The Bishop Broncos JV football squad ruined Cal City Ravens’ 6-0 High Desert League record with a 30-9 win Friday night.
“We had four first-half turnovers,” said coach Arnie Palu, “but came back in the second half and played well.”
The Broncos’ defense held Cal City to a field goal on a Ravens’ first-half possession. Bishop’s offense answered with a J.J. Camarata interception and return for a TD, giving the Broncos the lead at 7-3.
Bishop ended the first half with a 30-yard field goal from Jarod Dossey, then started the second half with a 17-yard touchdown run by Collin Batchelder to give the Broncos a 17-3 lead.
The Ravens scored their TD, narrowing the Broncos’ lead 17-9.
Bishop had the last two words, a 20-yard TD run from Ty Tucker and a 14-yard pass play from Clyde McCoy to Ryan Lent for the 30-9 win.
