Rev. Ronald Barr



Born May 28, 1933 in Fort Bidwell, Rev. Ronald Barr, a 60-year Bishop resident, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at Renown Hospital in Reno. He was 79.

Brother Barr was always blessed to see and hear the miracles of God. He also enjoyed watching PRCA rodeos, as well as others. He enjoyed deer hunting on horseback and fishing for native trout in the old days. He also enjoyed Native American art, from leather work to basket weaving. He even worked with beads and buckskin “back in the day.”

He is a retiree of the HOD Carriers and Laborers Union Local 783.

He was also in the U.S. Army and was scheduled to serve in Korea before being discharged with honors.

Barr is survived by his brother, Gene Arnett of Grants Pass, Ore.; sisters, Patricia Garcia, Glenda Frease, Charlene Williams, Anita Williams and Lena Williams, all of Fort Bidwell, Calif.; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Susan Barr of Bishop, Nolan Barr and Sandra Hull of Las Vegas, and Driscoll and Julie Barr of Gardnerville, Nev.; daughter and son-in-law, Russell and Balery Covington of Bishop; grandchildren, Susan R. Boggess, Hank Barr, Jessica Barr, Ronald E. Barr, Eric Barr, Andri Napoles, Trina De Ann Wyatt, Warren Sampson Barr and Ryan Barr; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Aururn, Shilby, Carter John Barr, Manassah Barr, Micheal Allen “Shields” Barr, Alex, Jess, Hateya, Jordan, Samharah, Areyajaud, Stevie, Early Rain, Thomas, Elvis and Enapay.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, at Brune Mortuary in Bishop. Rev. Dave Barns of Snowflake, Ariz. will officiate. Burial will be at Sunland Indian Cemetery with visitation following at the Barlow Lane Community Center.
