Edward S. Hall

Edward S. Hall was born to Earl and Edith Hall Aug.10, 1914 at Dinuba. Eventually the family moved to Highland Park/Los Angeles, where Ed grew up attending Los Angeles public schools and Lincoln High School.

As a boy he was interested in Boy Scouts and made Eagle Scout at age 15. After graduation from high school he got a job as meter reader for the LA. Department of Water and Power. To further his education he took night courses at USC toward a degree in Engineering.

In 1939 he married Leota Belin, daughter of Herman and Ivy Belin of Joplin, Mo. Ed and Leota had two children, Sharron and Sandra. In 1944 Ed decided to take a job operating power plants and moved his family to Big Pine where they resided for 16 years.

While in Big Pine, in his spare time, he used his engineering skills to design and build the Big Pine Motel and was actively involved in various community activities. After 16 years in Big Pine, Ed took a job at “The Gorge” north of Bishop where he worked for two years. At this time he decided to take advantage of promotions and moved back to Los Angeles as Superintendent of electrical plants. He eventually was promoted to Superintendent of Hydraulic Electrical Plants with his main office at the Castaic Power Plant. At this time he and Leota moved to Newhall where they resided for a number of years.

Ed was a member of the Lions Club in Big Pine and Newhall, Masons/Shriners in Bishop, Newhall and Los Angeles, and was a church Elder at Newhall Presbyterian Church.

He and Leota enjoyed traveling, entertaining and being with family and friends. As their health began to present problems, they decided to move to Sunrise Senior Living in Seal Beach to be near their daughter Sharron.

Ed passed away on Aug. 17, 2012.

He is survived by wife Leota; daughters, Sharron Hall Henry and Sandra Hall Ramet; nephew, William Mills; grandchildren, Christina Olson, Dawn Henry Conceicao and Valeska Ramet; and two great-grandchildren, Jonele Conceicao and Choloe Conceicao.
