Donald ‘Don aka

Grandpa’ Buff

Donald “Don aka
Grandpa” Buff, 83, of Lone Pine, passed away the evening of Aug. 17, 2012 at his home.

Don was born on March 14, 1929 in Oakland and had raised and enrolled in Native American Schools as he grew up and by age 17 Don had enlisted and served in the US Navy where as years gone by he then returned and resided in the Owens Valley where he raised a wonderful loving family and started work at Standard Industrials Minerals of Bishop where he had retired in his early 70’s.

From living and working in Bishop his retirement lead him back to Lone Pine where he loved spending time with family and friends, cruising and watching main street, talking with locals for the latest news around town and tending to his horses and dog.

Don is survived by his wife, Ruth Buff of Lone Pine; daughters, Judy Kinney of Bishop and Donna Herrmann of Lone Pine; and son, Curtis Buff of Texas; also by his grandchildren, Deanna, Eddie, II and Andrea Herrmann of Lone Pine and Charlene, Collette and  Jackie Buff of OV, and Victoria, Kimberly Kinney and Frank Shoshone of Bishop; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Don will be greatly missed, our hearts will continue forever to carry on the wonderful memories that were shared along with the everlasting love in our hearts for a wonderful man everyone once knew.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27 in Lone Pine at the Mt. Whitney Cemetery and following there will be a celebration of life for Donald Buff located at the VFW Post 8036 hall.
