Mildred V. Jennings (Millie), age 83 of Mammoth Lakes, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on May 26, 1929 in Santa Monica to the late James and Viola Sollee. She grew up in Santa Monica and graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1947. On Jan. 20, 1950, she married the love of her life, Ray Jennings, and in May of 1961 they moved to Mammoth Lakes. She provided day care for many years, touching the lives of many children. During the summer months, her favorite time of the year, you could always find her caring for her beautiful flowers in her yard.

Millie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ray; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Don Perea of Bishop, Trina and Joe Sobota of Crowley Lake and Denise and Gerry Laframboise of Mammoth Lakes; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Jamie Jennings of Roseville, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Dustin and Kimberly Shepler of Denver, Colo., Bryan Shepler of Fort Collins, Colo., Heather and Seth Carr of Bishop, Brandi and Duncan Cloud of Bishop, Tyler Sobota of Crowley Lake, Ryan Laframboise of Peoria, Ariz., Kylie Laframboise of Mammoth Lakes, Miranda Jennings and Trenton Jennings of Roseville; and six great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are welcome at a memorial service for Millie at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 58 Ranch Rd., Mammoth Lakes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Hospice of the Owens Valley, 155 Pioneer Ln., Bishop, CA 93514.
