Yonnetta (pronounced Juanita) DeYoung, age 88, of Fallon went to sleep in the arms of our Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at the Manor Care Wingfield in Sparks, Nev. Born on Aug. 30, 1923 in Pocatello, Idaho, she was the daughter of Walter and Frances Ames. Yonnetta married Henry DeYoung on July 15, 1941 and remained married to him until his passing in 1996.
Yonnetta was a printer by trade. She applied her knowledge and skills at Chalfant Press for 32 years. She was at one time one of only seven female printers in the USA that accomplished using a Heidleberg press, off set, webbing the newspaper press for weekly editions, and many other pieces of printing equipment. Yonnetta was a major factor in the printing of books by Chalfant Press printed from 1957 to her retirement. Yonnetta was an avid coin collector, and thoroughly enjoyed Mule Day’s with friends and family before she and Hank moved to Fallon.
Surviving Yonnetta are her two daughters, Yvonne Reynolds of Fernley, Nev., and Pearl (Joey) Borge, Reno; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
There was a graveside gathering held at the Fallon Cemetery June 8, 2012.
