Sherrie attended Seventh-day Adventist church schools in San Gabriel and Riverside, then moved to Nebraska and attended church school in Scottsbluff and the Platte Valley Seventh-day Adventist Academy. She worked as a lifeguard in Omaha, Neb., before going on to college for two years at Kearney State College. While there, Sherrie met and married Don Prem, and together they had two daughters. They moved to Bishop, where she lived and worked in the community many years including 15 years at the post office. Sherrie later moved from Bishop to Merced where she attended Merced Community College.
Sherrie had a heart for the elderly, and for people in need. She had the dream of becoming a drug and alcohol abuse counselor. She also enjoyed helping children. She loved nature and animals, especially dogs. Her two corgis went everywhere with her. For a while she raised Himalayan cats and Shih tzu puppies. Sherrie enjoyed music of many types. In academy she sang in the choir and played the piano beautifully by ear. Traveling was another of her favorite activities.
Sherrie is survived by her partner, John Atwood; her mother, Norma Spears; two daughters, Brenna and Shannon; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
