Georgia Williams Scott
Georgia Williams Scott passed away peacefully, at home, on the Ides of March, 2012, having finessed life for over 102 years.
Georgia, daughter of Cyrus and Maude Williams, was born in Oklahoma on July 27, 1909. She moved to California as a small child with her parents and sister Hazel, where she graduated from Bishop Union Elementary and High Schools.
She and her first husband, Charles Mumy, were entrepreneurs in Bishop for many years. She then married the love of her life, “Scotty” (Dr. C. L. Scott, a well-known Bishop physician for more than 40 years), and they traveled the world, often accompanied by “Mam” (her mother) and daughter, Linda.
In ’81, they moved from Bishop to Laguna Hills (now Laguna Woods), continuing their travels, especially to their beloved home in Maui. Everywhere, she practiced her notorious skills as a Life Master Bridge player.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Linda Gabriel and her husband, Bill Gabriel; granddaughter, Kathi Gabriel Karen and husband Greg Karen; and great-grandson, Bradley Scott Karen.
She also is survived by her stepson, Donald Leith Scott and his wife, Ellen; and stepdaughter, Helen Scott Bogner; grandchildren, Martin Wolf and Jessica Lapic; and great-grandchildren, Isabel, Phillip, Jack and Jamie.
Grieving, too, are dearest friends Helen, Ruth, Bob and John, and long-time caregivers Marilyn and Aurora, as well as all those whose lives she brightened.
A private graveside service was held Tuesday, March 20th, at El Toro Memorial Park, where she is interred with Mam and Scotty.
A memorial celebration of Georgia’s amazing life will be held at 11 a.m. June 2, at The Towers at Laguna Woods Village, in the Key Club, 24055 Paseo del Lago West, Laguna Woods, CA 92637.
Memorial gifts may be made to Laws Museum, P. O. Box 363, Bishop, CA 93515; or Saddleback Memorial Foundation Laguna Hills, 24451 Health Center Drive, Laguna Hills, CA 92653.
Too beautiful to die young.
