Richard ‘Dick’ J. Gouin

Richard “Dick” J. Gouin, 78, of Bishop, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 11, 2012 at the Bishop Care Center. He was born in Woonsocket, R.I. on July 14, 1933.
He was the son of Wilfred T. and Albina M. (Sevigny) Gouin. He married Muriel Valiquette on Aug. 29, 1953. They relocated to Redondo Beach from Rhode Island in the mid-1950s and later on to Bishop in early 1964.
Richard worked as a sales manager for Sierra Auto Parts in Bishop for many years and served that industry well. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Bishop Fire Department.
Some of his interests and favorite pastimes were fishing, as well as being an avid NASCAR racing fan. He loved being surrounded by the beauty of the High Sierra.
 He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and had a strong faith and deep devotion to St. Jude.
 He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Muriel Gouin; one son, Richard Gouin, and his wife, Mary, of Cumberland, R.I.: three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also, one sister, Lucille M. Benoit, and her husband, Armand, of Hemet; one brother, Normand E. Gouin, and his wife, Madeleine, of Biddeford, Maine; as well as several nieces and nephews.
 The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
