Margaret Louise Terry
Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister passed away in the early evening of March 6, 2012 in Reno, Nev. She was born March 12, 1930 in Lone Pine. Margaret was a devoted wife of almost 60 years to Donald Hudson Terry, who passed just seven months ago. There are no words to express how much she is loved and how much she will be missed.
She wore many hats in her career years, including closely working with her husband at the Standard Oil Bulk Plant and as the Chevron station owners in Lone Pine. Margaret retired from the county of Inyo after working in a variety of positions. She was a long-time VFW charter member and an active community supporter, serving on the Community Services District board for many years.
Margaret will always be remembered as a thoughtful, generous, and strong-spirited woman with a humorous quick-wit. She enjoyed outdoor adventures and possessed a profound sense of loyalty. This quality was expressed through her love of family, friends, community and animals.
Margaret was preceded in death by her stepson, Michael H. Terry; father and stepmother, Ralph “Ducky” and Ann Ruiz; and mother and stepfather, Ethel and Henry “Leaky” Olivas.
She leaves behind her daughter, Susan Terry-Ortega (Justin); grandchildren, Kelly Checo and Logan Wilcox; brother, Joe Ruiz (Joyce); sister, Charlotte Olson; niece, Jody Patton; and nephews, Edward Ruiz and Henry Olson.
No funeral services will be held per Margaret’s request. Instead, there will be a celebration of life gathering for those wishing to pay respect from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 18 at the Lone Pine VFW.
