The Broncos soccer team demolished the Desert Scorpions, 9-1, Thursday night, securing a spot in CIF playoffs with a second-place finish in High Desert League.
With a 7-1-2 record, the Broncos are ranked behind Rosamond at 9-0-1.
The match was a total goal-fest from Bishop. Danny Lopez scored the first, less than two minutes into the game.
Ignacio Santana, with an assist from Alexis Barajas, sent in the second, midway through the first half. Ten minutes later, it was Barajas scoring on a Lopez assist.
The only real threat from the Scorpions came from the very fast Josh Deloach. Deloach scored for Desert late in the first half.
With just over three minutes on the clock, Elijah Alexander and Tim Pejsa closed out the half with nearly back-to-back goals, putting Bishop ahead 5-1.
Alexander went on for 3 more goals in the second half.
As number two in the league, Bishop will not have home field advantage for round one of the playoffs.
