Patricia Minard, of Bishop, passed away at Renown Medical Center in Reno on Jan. 2, 1912, and Lawrence Minard passed away at home in Bishop Jan. 9, 2012.
Larry and Pat were both born in Los Angeles and were grammar school classmates and then high school sweethearts. They were married in Arizona in 1950 and lived and worked in Southern California in their younger years.
It was Larry’s dream to live in the country where his father took him hunting and fishing every year, and in 1965, he and Pat moved the family to Bishop.
In Bishop, Larry began is 30-plus-year career with Caltrans District 9 Maintenance, working in Bishop, Deep Springs, Bridgeport and Sacramento. Pat worked at the Mono County Recorder’s Office for several years, when they were in Bridgeport. Larry also served on the Inyo County Sheriff’s Reserve for some years.
After retirement, they traveled in their fifth-wheel trailer, many times to the Colorado River. Pat loved to fish on the river, loved to cook, and they both spent many fall days with friends at “deer camp.”
Larry and Pat are survived by their son, Jeffery Minard of La Morlaye, France; daughter, Shelly Shepard of Boise, Idaho; Pat’s brother and sister-in-law, True and Gerdi Moore of Thousand Oaks; grandson, Cole Minard of Orlando, Fla.; and granddaughter, Lisa Shepard of Boise, Idaho.
