Rex Frank Reid
Rex was born Aug. 7, 1923 in Mammoth, Utah to Thomas and June Reid. He passed away Jan. 13, 2012 in Bishop. He was 88.
Rex was an extraordinary athlete at Tintic High School in Eureka, Utah. Rex enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served proudly until 1949. He then attended the University of Utah and graduated from DeVry Technical Institute. Rex married Vella in 1955. They moved to Bishop in 1960 and raised four children Tom, Teresa, Tammy and Tim. Rex worked for Union Carbide for 25 years until he retired in 1985. Rex’s great enjoyment came from spending countless hours with his precious granddaughters. He loved aviation and hiking in the Pine Creek area. His family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife Vella; daughters, Teresa and Tammy; son, Tim; granddaughters, Ashley Cataldo, Amanda Holland and Tanya Reid; sisters, Bonnie Bauer and Nancy Burraston; and sister-in-law, Adean Reid.
He was preceded in death by son Tom Reid; brothers Ted, Don and Jim Reid.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at the LDS Church in Bishop.
