Holly Crystal Holland
Holly Crystal Moldenhauer was born and raised in North Hollywood. She attended Lutheran Sunday School and confirmation classes and was a proud member of Camp Fire Girls and Jobs Daughters. While learning tap and ballet, Holly also performed as a movie industry extra.
She graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1956. Between college classes, Holly worked as a secretary in the newly built Capitol Records building. Through a college (and still dear) friend, Holly met Dave Holland who recognized the love of his life. They were married Oct. 2, 1960. Holly’s devotion and Dave’s care created loving and supportive homes in Granada Hills, Lone Pine, then Santa Clarita.
Holly enjoyed needlepoint, baking, yummy desserts, books about 1800s pioneer women, Lewis and Clark and historical novels and solving Sudoku puzzles. Flourishing on a foundation of blending family traditions, heritage and faith, their lives were blessed with a multitude of friends and relatives with many shared good times in local and exotic places. Such a full life gave Holly peace and enveloped her in love those last days.
Holly passed peacefully in her own home with family honored to be at her side. With gladness, we realize that neither Mom’s heartbreak nor the cancer can cause her any more pain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Erma; and husband, Dave.
Holly is survived by her daughter, Melody; son, Michael; their spouses; grandsons, Connor, Jack and Sebastian; and dear brother, Terry and his family.
Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. today with services at noon Wednesday at Forest Lawn in Hollywood, 6300 Forest Lawn Dr., Los Angeles.
Donations in Holly’s memory may be made to the John Wayne Cancer Institute, c/o Public Affairs and Development, 220 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica CA 90404, or online at www.jwci.org.
