Daniel Shawn Barlow
Daniel Shawn Barlow, age 45, a life-long resident of Bishop, passed away on Dec. 13, 2011. Daniel was born in Bishop on Jan. 29, 1966 to Agnes and Richard Barlow, Sr. and was the third of four children. Dan was a big-hearted person always spending time with family and friends and helping out whenever needed. Dan enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gathering pine nuts and wood. He was also an artistic spirit, being a creative beader and artist. Anyone who knew Dan also knew of his enthusiasm for singing his native songs and sharing those songs with his nieces and nephews. Dan was also known as an avid recycler.
Dan is survived by his brother, Richard Barlow, Sr. of Bishop and sister-in-law, Patricia Butterbredt of Oakland; brother, Jason Barlow and sister-in-law, Sara Vance of Big Pine; sister, Elaine Barlow and brother-in-law, Aaron Heter of Moscow, Idaho; nephews, Kelly John Vega, Tuhia Heter, Andrew and Jayden Barlow; nieces, Jewl’nell and Lorraine Barlow, Tulie Barlow and Kaity Barlow; great-nieces and nephews, Devin Williams, Izabella Barlow, Lilliana Vega, Kaieleigh Barlow, and Tatiana Hanks. Dan is also survived by numerous uncles, aunties, and cousins.
Dan is preceded in death by nephew, Kaielighn Rick Barlow; and his parents, Agnes and Richard Barlow, Sr.
A traditional cry dance will be held Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 at the Barlow residence at 453 Pa Me Ln. in Bishop. Services will be held for Daniel Shawn Barlow at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at the Brune Mortuary in Bishop, with interment to follow at the Sunland Indian Cemetery. Reception to follow at Barlow Lane Gym.
