Jane Spoor Wuest

Jane Spoor Wuest, 89, died Oct. 23, 2011, in Bishop. A native of Redlands, she was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, while her mother was attending a family wedding. She was the daughter of former Redlands resident, E. H. (“Tac”) Spoor, and stepdaughter of longtime Redlands High School Teacher Marion Cornelius Spoor.
She graduated from Redlands High School in 1940, and was a member of Kimberly Juniors. During World War II she served in the United States Coast Guard Women’s Reserve as a SPAR and was stationed in New Orleans where she met her future husband, Charles E. (Chuck) Wuest.  They were married in 1946.
During their 62 years of marriage they lived in the Southern California communities of Alhambra, Claremont, Laguna Beach and San Clemente before making their home in Bishop in 1999.
Jane attended art classes at USC and continued her love of learning throughout her life. She spent 25 years as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher while living in Orange County.  Jane was an enthusiastic homemaker who loved music, art and travel.
She was a lifelong follower of the Christian Science church and inspired those who knew her with its tenants of a healthy, positive, cheerful attitude.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in February 2009. She is survived by her son, Britt, and daughter-in-law, Cindy of Bishop; and grandson Brian and his wife Michelle of Aliso Viejo.
At her request, no services will be held. She will be interred at Pomona Valley Cemetery.
