Irvin R. Miller

Born July 15, 1920, life-long Independence resident Irvin R. Miller passed away Nov. 2, 2011 at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop.
Irvin grew up in Inyo County and loved to pack into the Sierra. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Irvin was also a World War II veteran, serving as a mechanic on early jet aircraft.
 In his later years, one of his biggest sources of fun was traveling to Bishop to enjoy his friends at the Paiute Palace Casino.
He is survived by his brother, Daniel Miller, Sr.; granddaughters, Nancy Brown and Annjeanette Jewett; grandson, David Harris; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Irvin was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; and daughter, Sarah.
A celebration of life will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. today at Jenny’s Cafe in Independence.
