Diann Stever, aged 66, a resident of Bishop for 33 years, born in Detroit, Mich. on May 5, 1945, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 20, 2011.
Diann was raised in Tarzana and lived various places in Southern California prior to moving to Bishop in 1978. She worked at Safeway, later Vons, in Bishop and Mammoth Lakes and retired after 30 years of service.
Her favorite pastimes were being with family and friends and enjoying the beautiful Eastern Sierra with her husband, Bill. They also enjoyed tennis, golf, hiking, fishing and walking their dogs, Nece and Thi. Becoming quite the traveler in the last several years, she loved traveling with Bill, her best friend Marsha, family and friends to places like Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, and visiting New York City over the holidays last year. Diann also found she had a knack for home remodeling that she carried on into building rustic birdhouses and other yard art.
Then months ago she gave her life to the Lord Jesus, knowing his love, power, peace, joy and forgiveness.
Diann is survived by her husband of 24 years, Bill Stever; daughter, Lorri Graham of Bishop, and husband Phil; granddaughters, Lisa and Michelle (who is expecting Diann’s first great-grandchild) and husband Joseph Mulligan; son, Rob Shipley of Auburn, and grandsons Austin, Clay and Jack; and brothers, Robert Gayer of Stuarts Draft, Va. and family, and Archie Gayer of Dayton, Nev. and family.
An impromptu celebration of Diann’s life was held with a few family members and friends Saturday, Oct. 22. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a favorite charity. She was thankful for all the prayers and love from family and friends. Diann was a vivacious and joyful lady; she will be greatly missed.
