Ardis A. Whitaker
Ardis A. Whitaker, 83, passed away Oct. 13, 2011 in Carson City. Ardis was born Jan. 16, 1928 in Longview, Wash. to Harry and Susan Cameron. She has been residing in Fallon, Nev. since 2009, moving there from Bishop.
During World War II Ardis worked as a riveter on the B-29 bombers. She worked in the Financial Responsibility Department for the DMV, state of California for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed crafts and reading. Ardis was a member of TOPS and the Eagles. She was also a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Fallon.
Ardis was preceded in death by her husband, Orla Whitaker who passed away in 1950; and an infant son, Harry Cecil Whitaker who passed away in 1948.
She will be dearly missed by her son, John Whitaker (Judy); her two daughters, Dawn Wilson (John) and Tiler Cameron; one brother, Keyth Cameron; one sister, Janice Cameron; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life for Ardis at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Fallon on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. Private interment at the Churchill County Cemetery.
Walton’s Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home is in charge of final arrangements.
