Alfred E. Morgan
Alfred E. Morgan, age 89, resident of Bishop for 30 years, born Feb. 14, 1922 in Freedom, N.Y. passed away Sept. 5, 2011 in Bishop.
Al enlisted in the Army in 1942. He became a sergeant, and was stationed at Camp Santa Anita, New Guinea, and the Philippines. He completed his duty in 1946. While stationed in California, he met Helen Brown Warrick. They married and made their home in Whittier, with son Phillip Warrick. Al retired with General Telephone after more than 30 years. He and Helen moved to Bishop in 1981. Helen passed away in 1983. In 1984 Al married Ruth Davis Fox. Through this marriage, he gained daughters Suzanne, Cyndee and Lori. Al was a proud member of the Bishop Elks Lodge No. 1603, and VFW Post No. 8988.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 2003; brother, Donald; sisters, Doris and Elsie; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Penny Warrick; sister-in-law and husband, Glynis and Victor Neuman; grandchildren, Christine Parrish and Chuck Parrish; and son-in-law, Randy Stine.
Al is survived by his granddaughter, Stephanie Sprague and her husband, Bryan and their children Allison, Stephen and Jonathon and their families; daughters, Suzanne Parrish and her children, Traci, Lesli, Kelli, Jesse, Sarah, Phillip and their families; Cynthia Fox and her children Michael and Ronald Peterson and their families, and Lori Stine.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop. Bishop Elks Lodge No. 1603 and VFW Post No. 8988 will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the Elks Lodge.
