Graveside funeral services and interment for lifelong Bishop resident John W. McKellips will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop. Donna Thomas will officiate.
Born in Shurz, Nev. on Aug. 19, 1937, John passed away on Aug. 17, 2011 at Northern Inyo Hospital. He was 73.
John is survived by his wife, Jenny McKellips, and children, Dale McKellips, Marthina and Larry Taylor and Helena McKellips, all of Bishop; brother, Leroy and Noreen McKellips of Bishop; foster daughter, Mary, and her husband, Mike Shane, of Fort Kobb, Okla.; grandchildren, Cheyenne McKellips, Shaunee Andreas, Courtney Taylor, Willie and Heather Taylor, and Ravyn Taylor, all of Bishop; foster grandchildren, Justin Davis of Bishop, Sandra Davis of Anadarko, Okla., Christina Ricely of Kansas, Donna and Daniel Diaz of Washington, Kevin Shane and Lynzee Shane of Casper, Wyo., Joseph and Sandee Shane of Germany. Charley Brown of Redding, Calif., Sheryl Smith of Bishop and Joel Quintana of Missouri; great-grandchildren, Mason McKellips Gustie, Logan and Kayden Bellona, Jaidyn McKellips and Jazmin Botello, all of Bishop; foster great-grandchildren, Jasmine Salaiz of Upland, Calif., Raymond Salaiz, Logan Dondero of Casper, Wyo., Jozee and Lily Diaz of Washington, and Geneva, Emmett and Macy Davis, all of Bishop; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Martha McKellips; daughter, Ellen McKellips; siblings, Don McKellips, Barbara Andreas, Dolores Shaw and Dean McKellips; and great-granddaughter, Katana Taylor.
