Virginia Jean Fenton
Virginia Jean Fenton, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Fallon on Aug. 9, 2011. Virginia was born in Seminole, Okla., the eldest child of Isaac Bowen and Mary Ann (James) Conn. She graduated from high school in San Antonio, Texas in 1944. The family moved to Delano, where she met and married her husband, Archie Fenton in 1945. Archie preceded her in death in October 1997. From this union they had three children, David Fenton (1946-2007); Sandra Tilley of Fernley, Nev. and Patty Baker of Fallon, Nev.
Virginia and Archie lived many years in Bishop where they owned and operated Fenton & Tilley Trucking. During her years in Bishop, Virginia was an active member of Sweet Adeline’s and worked for many years as a nurses aid at the Big Pine Sanitarium. Her favorite and most reverent job was that of a home maker and mother. During their 53 years of marriage the Fentons also lived in Yerington, Nev. and Fallon, settling in Fallon in 1997.
In addition to her daughters, Virginia is survived by her grandchildren, Lisa (Alex)Kuhnle; David Tilley; Ronnie (Connie) Tilley; Steven (Nikki) Austin; Cory (Elaine) Plaizier; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Virginia will always be remembered for her beautiful voice singing harmoniously in church every Saturday.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at Churchill County Cemetery.
