Despite a late-game rally, Just NDNs proved too much for Shirts ‘n Skirts in Tuesday evening’s Bishop coed softball game at City Park. The NDNs took out their opponent 11-3.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first inning. NDN Johnny Shoshone hit a 1-RBI single to get things started in the top of the second.
Suma Davis smashed a 2 RBI double into center field in the third. By the end of the inning, the NDNs had extended their lead to 6-0.
Shirts ‘n Skirts got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Bob Bishop hit a sacrifice fly ball to bring Justin Whitman home.
The NDNs offense caught fire in the fourth, adding 3 runs extending the lead to 9-1, despite strong S&S fielding.
In the top of the fifth, Shirts ‘n Skirts’ infielder Bishop was instrumental in a double play, limiting the NDNs to a single run on the inning.
Shirts ‘n Skirts rallied in the sixth with a 2 RBI double from Eric Watterson, but couldn’t sustain the momentum.
NDNs took the game 11-3 to stay atop the Bishop City League standings in the Coed B Division.
