Riannah, Noah and Nate Reade enjoy family time during the Independence Fishing Derby held last Saturday

Families turned out in droves for the annual Independence Fishing Derby last Saturday.
The day started on the water and ended in Dehy Park for the weigh-in, a silent auction and music, followed by prizes for big trout and bigger stringers.

Adult Category
1st – Matt Sanchez (El Cajon), 3 lbs.
2nd – Schuyler Gingrich (Covina), 2 lbs., 9 ozs.
3rd – Tracey Dallarosa (Coronado), 2 lbs., 5 oz.
Heaviest Trout,
Junior Category
1st – Shane Hansen, 2 lbs., 14 oz.
2nd – Mitch Mandic (Moorpark), 1lb., 11 oz.
3rd – Braden Oroz (Moorpark), 1 lb., 1 oz.
Heaviest Trout Stringer – Adult Category
1st – Frankie Steagall (Independence), 9 lb., 6 oz.
2nd – Garrett Roberts (Saugus), 7 lbs., 12 oz.
3rd – Donnell Williams (Bakersfield), 7 lbs., 9 oz.
Heaviest Trout Stringer – Jr. Category
1st – Luis Guillen (Fontana), 8 lbs., 11 oz.
2nd – Cheyenne Padilla (Independence), 4 lbs., 12 oz.
3rd – Jeremiah Serna (Pico Rivera), 4 lbs., 11 oz.
