Edgardo F. De Lucas
Ed was born to the late Eugenio B. De Lucas and Guadalupe F. De Lucas on Oct. 17, 1920 in Douglas, Ariz., Ed graduated from Douglas High School in 1938. In 1940 he traveled to Los Angeles to attend Woodbury College. He married Josephine Cruz, of Bishop, in 1948.
As a Marine in World War II, Ed served in the South Pacific Theatre from 1942 until 1945. Following the war, Ed joined Union Carbide Corporation of Bishop. He and Josephine relocated to Colorado in 1956 and served as Carbide’s purchasing master until his retirement in 1985. Ed was a life member of the Elks Club for 64 years. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club. He was also secretary of the Lion’s Club in Bishop and a member of the VFW. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved God, family and country. Ed was very proud of his family, providing love, guidance, support and discipline. Ed was also an avid golfer and hunter. Ed is survived by his wife, Josephine; his four children, Ken and Patty De Lucas of Denver, Colo., Monica and Tom Pederson of Bishop, Edward and Kathy De Lucas of Taos, N.M. and Cynthia and Brad Suter of Grand Junction, Colo. He also had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The grandchildren include Danielle Scholz, Scott De Lucas, Mark De Lucas, Spencer Pederson, Garen Pederson, Matthew Kunard and Camille Crumb.
The service was held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 24 with the rosary preceding, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Father Henry Emeke Aguwa officiating. A military honor burial was conducted at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care (3090 N. 12th St., Grand Junction CO, 81506), who provided a loving and peaceful environment.
