Inez Avitia

Longtime Bishop resident Inez Avitia passed away Friday, May 27, 2011. Inez was born Dec. 15, 1932 in Durango, Mexico. She was 78.
Inez was a wonderful example of love and devotion to her family and friends as well as a great cook and smart business woman. She owned and operated El Charro Avitia for 24 years in Bishop.
She immigrated with her family in 1962 with her husband and six children in search of a better life. She lived the American Dream by raising her family in the U.S. and becoming a successful business woman. She was a devoted Catholic. She enjoyed horticulture.
Bishop held a special place in her heart, it warmed her soul, gave her comfort, it was a place of refuge, it was her little corner of heaven on Earth. Thank you, Bishop.
Inez is not in our world, she is definitely here in spirit. She will always be in our hearts and we will never forget her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Avitia, on June 27, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Martin and her husband Jerry of Tehachapi; son, Miguel Avitia and his wife, Hilda, of Ridgecrest; son, Avel Avitia and his wife, Michelle, of Carson City, Nev.; daughter, Rosa Bowers and Curt of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; son, Tony Avitia and his wife, Tina of Carson City; daughter, Francie Avitia and her husband Sergio of Bishop; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church  in Bishop. Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Interment will follow at the East Line Street Cemetery.
