Jeannine Ellen Brown
1929-2011

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop for Jeannine Ellen Brown.
Born Joe Ellen Drury on April 24, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Okla., Jeannine died April 23, 2011 at the Bishop Care Center. She was one day shy of turning 82.
Jeannine was one of three children born to Albert and Ethel Drury. At a very early age she was sent to live with her grandmother in California until her parents could join her. Her grandmother, unable to stand her “boyish name” began calling her Jeannine and the name stayed.
In 1946, at the age of 17, she met the love of her life and they were married two years later.
In 1950 the two of them moved to Bishop with their first son in tow. With family always being the most important thing to both of them, they had five more children. Together they had many business endeavors, much of which is still run by the family. She was the well-known face of E & J’s Corral while it was open.
Jeannine was a very giving mother and nana. Her smile could light up a room and touch anyone’s heart. She left an impact on anyone that knew her and will be missed dearly by all.
“A heart of gold stopped beating, two smiling eyes, he closed to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.”
Jeannine was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Brown; mother, Ethel Drury; and father, Albert Drury.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Joann Drury and Doug and Colleen Drury; sons and daughters-in-law, Bert and Bev Brown and Doug and Kelli Brown, all of Bishop; daughters and sons-in-law, Earlene and Dave Beaver and Gail and Randy Slee, all of Bishop, Cindy and Sam Lamb of Diagonal, Iowa and Suzi and Mike Doyle of Yankton, S.D.; grandchildren, Beau Brown, Dan Brown, Jon Brown, Stacy and Tyson Sparrow, Cherie Hoersting, Kammi and Greg Foote, Randi and Eric Pritchard, Robin and Matt Fisher, Reagan and Tina Slee, Jennifer Foreman, Brandi and Coley Neider, Nolan and Sara Yocum, Bucky and Amanda Brown, Nick Brown, Dennis Brown, Gary Brown, Amanda Doyle, Shannon Doyle and Jake Doyle; great-grandchildren, Noah and Annika Foote, Andrew Allen, Dagan Sparrow, Jordan and Garin Pritchard, Wyman and Ruby Fisher, Wyatt Slee, Presley Brown, Haley and Quincie Neider and Wyatt Slee.
