Warren LeRoy Morefield
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Independence Cemetery for 45-year Inyo County resident Warren LeRoy Morefield. Pastor Erin McPhee will officiate.
Born June 11, 1921 in St. Louis, Mo. to Arthur and Francis Morefield, Warren died April 10, 2011 at Sterling Heights in Bishop. He was 89.
Warren moved to Los Angeles with his mother, father and brother, Lloyd, during the Depression.
He met his wife, Ruth Aman, at the beach and was married on Sept. 14, 1942.
Warren went into the Navy and served on the battleship, USS Tennessee in the Pacific until 1945.
He then went to work for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as a laborer in 1946 and as a patrolman in 1979. He lived in Lone Pine for 32 years.
Warren was a simple man who lived, as he always said, a good life. He was a good father and was married to Ruth, the love of his life, for 68 years, until her passing in 2010. He missed her dearly and will be missed himself.
Warren was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd; and three-day-old son, Dana, born in Bishop and buried in Independence.
He is survived by his sons, Ron of Bishop, Don of Norco and Larry of Dallas; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
