Jorge Luis Esparza
A viewing and funeral mass was held in Rockford, Ill, on April 1 and April 2 for Rockford resident Jorge Luis Esparza. The family will hold a memorial and be releasing balloons in his memory at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at the back of the Bishop City Park. Family and friends who wish to attend and send condolences to the family in Rockford are invited to attend.
Born Dec. 21, 2000 in Rockford to Luis and Jacinta Esparza, Jorge died peacefully at 2:57 a.m. Sunday, March 27 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 10.
Jorge lived his whole life in Rockford. He attended Julia Lathrop Elementary School and was a member of St. Patrick Church.
He loved to play soccer, ride his bike and watch WWE wrestling and especially loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered always for his smile, his laugh and his fun and outgoing sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Reynaldo Esparza; and great-grandparents, Carlos and Helen Herrera and Faustino and Maria Gonzales.
He is survived by his parents, Luis and Jacinta Esparza; brothers, Carlos and Ramon of Rockford; grandparents, Ramona and Lisa Gonzales of Bishop and Yolanda Jimenez of Mexico; aunt, Asia Gonzales; cousin, Alex Romero of Bishop and her fiancé, Chad Romero of Lone Pine; aunts, Laura Torres, Lynn Herrera and Camilla Herrera of Bishop and Carla Herrera of Reno; uncles, Louie Torres of Bishop and Lance Herrera and Steve Dempsey of Columbus, Ohio; aunts and uncles, Manuel and Jazmin Esparza, Juan and Veronica Esparza, Gorge Esparza, Ismael and Floribel Avila, Hector and Rocio Rosales, Jando and Elizabeth Alvarez, Jose and Yanet Avila, Reynaldo and Bamini Esparza and Franky Jimenez; and more than 25 cousins.
