Charlotte Suzanne (Ward) Bryant

A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 30 at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop for Charlotte Suzanne (Ward) Bryant. A reception will follow at the Bryant residence in Bishop.
Born July 23, 1940 in Battle Creek, Mich. to Laurence Alton Ward and Gertrude May (Hix) Ward, Charlotte died unexpectedly on March 31, 2011.
Charlotte was the youngest of four children.
She graduated from W. K. Kellogg High School in 1958 and enrolled the following fall in Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated from nursing school in May of 1961 and began work at the Community Hospital in Bellevue, Mich. and later worked for a private physician’s office.
In 1965, Charlotte moved to Los Angeles and found work at several different hospitals, including Brotman Memorial Medical Center, Imperial Hospital, Cerritos Gardens General Hospital and Centinela Hospital Medical Center.
Charlotte married machinist and mechanic David Henry Bryant in 1972. Their first daughter, Denise Suzanne, was born a few years after their marriage and less than a year later the couple welcomed their second daughter, Ann Marie. As their daughters grew, Charlotte and David decided that they didn’t want to raise them in the metropolitan area and in 1984 they made the move to Bishop.
Charlotte began work at Northern Inyo Hospital in June of 1984. During her tenure at Northern Inyo she worked as a staff nurse, nursing supervisor, and for the last 10 years as an ER nurse. She officially retired in 2002 but remained on a per diem status helping with computer work until December 2005. She was considered a great friend and a trusted colleague by many who worked at the hospital.
Since retiring, Charlotte had enjoyed helping her oldest daughter with transcribing genealogy documents for her genealogy websites for Inyo and Mono counties. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.
In December 2008,Charlotte lost her husband David to leukemia.  Since then, she has continued to live in Bishop, enjoying the visits of her kids and grandkids and travelling to visit them as well.
Charlotte’s daughters wish to send out heartfelt thanks to all of their family and friends who have helped in various large and small ways in the last few years. From helping Charlotte get things done around the family home to just being there to listen; there can never be adequate thanks for all.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, David Henry Bryant; her parents; and her brother, Laurence Alton Ward, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Brian Flynn, and Ann and Eric Shanley; grandchildren, Mckenna Suzanne Flynn, Andrew David Flynn, Kylie Marie Shanley and Cianna Rose Shanley; and sisters, La Wanda Wine and Valeta Coffman.
