Broncos skiers/boarders: So. Division II champions

Bishop’s snow sport teams came back from the state finals at Northstar with South Division II championship banners.
The California Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation brought together 32 teams to the Lake Tahoe ski area, March 7-11.
Bishop was on top of league standings at the end of the four-meet season at Mammoth Mountain; the Division II championships were the icing on that cake.
Four Broncos snowboarders competed in the men’s championship slalom and giant slalom races.
Nic Hilton was fastest of the Bishop team in the GS finishing 46th out of 105 racers with a time of 2:36.24. Trevor Taylor, Arden Wagoner and Jon Barbieri finished in the middle of the pack.
Hilton had a combined time of 1:34.16 for the two slalom runs, finishing 36th out of 107 racers. Taylor’s combined time was 1:34.73; Wagoner, 1:43.05 and Barbieri, 1:46.03.
For the Lady Broncos, Kelsey Nikolaus claimed the best time for Bishop at 2:49.98 finishing 36th out of 70 racers on the GS course. Jocelyn Crockett logged in at 3:00.69; Haley Pennington, 3:30.02.
Nikolaus ranked highest for Bishop on the slalom course with 1:43.96. Angela Bell, 1:58.60; Rebecca Borin, 1:59.73; Pennington, 1:59.99.
For the ski team Southern Division II champions, Nick Schley topped the men’s team in the slalom races, finishing ninth with a combined time of 1:27.11. Robert Toy’s combined time was 1:39.50 for a 32nd place finish out of 86 competitors; David Tanksley, 1:55.51.
Schley finished 17th in the GS runs with 1:51.99; Max Piercey, 2:00.53; Kyle Hiroyasu, 2:03.26; Toy, 2:03.27 and Jesse Woods, 2:04.71.
Laura Sticklels came in with a 1:47.19 and a 23rd place finish in the women’s slalom, the top time for the Bishop team.
Madison Pauley, 1:55.00; Anamaria Sanchez: 1:55.16; Anne Stickells, 1:57.30
On the GS course, Pauley finished with a time of 2:06.68; Sanchez, 2:06.84; and Nichole Villaneuva, 2:16.10.
