Avo Irene ‘Ava’ Hancock

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 14 at Green Acres Memorial Garden Chapel in Bloomington for Avo Irene “Ava” Hancock.
Born Feb. 27, 1924 in Monroe County, Ken. to William and Pearl Stewart, Ava died peacefully at Renown Medical Center in Reno on March 1, 2011 with her family by her side. She was 87.
Ava married Robert Winston Hancock on Nov. 14, 1942; he preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1966.
Ava was a long-time resident of Independence and more recently The Homestead in Fallon, Nev.
Ava was a homemaker and a loving devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a favorite aunt. She enjoyed her pets and leaves her dog “Daisy” and her cat “Kitty” to the care of her family. She loved to garden. She was a big fan of the L.A. Lakers and the L.A. Dodgers. She never missed one show of “The Price is Right” from its very beginning.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Clara, Clarence, Ethel, Norine, Lawrence, Oshia and Alice.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Carol and Jim, Sandra and Larry, Robert and MaryJane, Kathryn and Chris, Patricia and Scott and Lawrence and Sharon; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren who called her GG.
