J. Patrick Farrell, Sr.
1934-2011

Graveside memorial services for J. Patrick Farrell, Sr. will be held at noon today, Saturday, March 12 at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop. Pastor Chris Costello will officiate.
Born Jan. 25, 1934 to Gertrude and William Brian-Jennings Farrell, Pat died March 5, 2011.
Pat lived in Lone Pine as a young boy and graduated from Lone Pine High School. He went to the Navy during the Korean War and served on the USS Lexington CV-16. Years later, Pat came back to Bishop where his mother, Gert, was the head of accounting at Chalfant Press, now known as The Inyo Register. He then met his bride, Frances Rue, who lived at Plant 4, where her dad worked. Shortly after they were married, the couple moved to Houston, Texas, where he became a firefighter and they had their son, J. Patrick, Jr.
After a few years, Pat and his family moved back to Bishop where he went to work for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and expanded his family with the birth of their daughter, LuAnn. Pat was a Boy Scout leader, Commander in VFW Post No. 8988 and was involved with the Clampers. He also was a member of the model railroad club where he helped repaint the Slim Princess at Laws Railroad Museum in the 1970s. Pat was very passionate about fishing in the Owens Valley as well as collecting and building model trains.
When he retired, Pat moved to San Diego with his new wife, where he enjoyed square dancing and tole painting for many years. For the past 10 years, he lived in Lancaster at the Mayflower Gardens Retirement Community, where he made many good friends.
Pat had an amazing life and touched a lot of people from his good old boys at the Clampers, DWP, Bishop, to his special friends in Lancaster. He will surely be missed.
Pat is survived by J. Patrick, Jr., Rhonda Longan and Katty Farrell of Hanford; Michael, LuAnn, Shawn, Bobby and Cory Barron of Bishop; Linda Farrell of Washington; Frances Ingersoll of Morro Bay; and lots of other good friends and family.
