Suspected repeat sex offender behind bars

Thomas Michael “Mikey” Tharp, a 38-year-old Bishop resident, is in custody at the Inyo County Jail on allegations of child molestation.
Tharp is facing one felony and one misdemeanor charge of molestation and an additional misdemeanor charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
According to Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Carma Roper, “investigators became aware of Tharp after the parents of two alleged victims came forward.”
Tharp was arrested at his home in the Glenwood Trailer Park area of Bishop and booked into Inyo County Jail March 8. Bail has been set at $100,000
According to www.meganslaw.ca.gov, Tharp has a previous conviction of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.
Roper said Tharp moved to the Glenwood Trailer Park of Bishop in July of 2010 from Victorville, and failed to register as a sex offender in Inyo County.
To protect the identity of the victims, their names, ages and where the alleged crimes took place are not being disclosed.
