Malinda White (French)

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011 at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 Redwood Rd. in Murray City, Utah for Malinda White (French). Viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday prior to services. Burial will be at the Murray City Cemetery.
Born Sept. 6, 1949 in Downey, Malinda died Jan. 28, 2011 of natural causes in Murray. She was 61.
Malinda was raised in Lone Pine by her parents, Robert and Wanda French. She graduated from Lone Pine High School in 1967. She moved to Salt Lake City in 1968 but would return to Lone Pine often for the annual town reunion. Malinda and Darrel A. White were married in 1970, and started building their family shortly after. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Malinda had a special friendship with her sister Lulu and enjoyed the time they spent together.
While raising her children, Malinda donated her time as one of the swim team moms. Throughout the years, Malinda also enjoyed time volunteering with the Girl Scouts and dedicated countless hours serving the young girls and women who participated in the Salt Lake Valley. She loved camping, fishing and bowling. She looked forward to Junction Lanes Wednesday night bowling league for 30 years.
Malinda spent most of her career working for JCPenney and had retired a few years ago. She was a loyal Utah Jazz fan, and has enjoyed watching many of their games (Go Jazz!).
Most of those who knew her watched as she battled a life-long illness that limited what she could do physically at times, but she was always there when we needed her. Malinda liked to laugh and make jokes even during her hardest times. There is something to be learned from watching one who suffered so long and still made all of our lives better. We will miss her.
Malinda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Wanda French; and her brother, David French.
She is survived by her husband, Darrel; children and their spouses, Jodi and Duffy Gonzales, Kathy and Mike Roe, David and Aurora White and Kim and Bill Chambers; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marilyn, Roberta and Lulu; as well as several nieces, nephews and many more loved ones.
