Geek Girl: Comic-Con goings-on and the new Wonder Woman

This week in the Geek World …
Comic-Con International: San Diego, known simply as Comic-Con, took place in, you guessed it, San Diego this past weekend, July 24-27. Despite humble beginnings, Comic-Con is now one of the biggest events of the year in geek culture and pop culture in general. Now no longer spotlighting comics, the convention has branched out to include TV shows, movies and video games, some connected to comics, others not.

Mammoth Music Festival starts three-week run

The Mammoth Lakes Music Festival starts this Wednesday, July 23 and continues through Aug. 8 at Cerro Coso College’s Mammoth campus with evening concerts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.
Violinist Rebecca Hang, and her husband, cellist Brian Schuldt, founded the music festival 12 years ago. Asked how she would describe the festival, Hang lightheartedly replied, “The World Cup of Chamber Music.”
