Grace V. Casale 1912-2008
Vigil service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, April 25 for Grace V. Casale with Mass of the Resurrection following at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 9970 California City Blvd., California City. Burial will be private. Born Jan. 10, 1912 in Newark, N.J., Grace died April 19, 2008 in Lancaster. She was 96. Grace was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her sons, Reverend Charles B. Casale of California City, Richard A. Casale of Bonners Ferry, Ida., Robert J. Casale of Spring Hill, Fla. and Anthony P. Casale of Wewahitchka, Fla. She is also survived by diverse grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jane Dieterich 1925-2008
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at West Line Street Cemetery for 48-year Bishop resident Jane Dieterich. Father John Gracey will officiate. Born in Shawnee, Okla. on Oct. 5, 1925, Jane died April 21, 2008 at the Bishop Care Center. She was 82. Jane was a former member of the VFW Post 8988 Auxiliary and a member of the Altar Society of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She is survived by her husband, Tom of Bishop; one daughter, Ellie Willoughby of Park City, Utah; two grandchildren, Paige and Erin Willoughby of Park City; one brother, Phillip Svymbersky of Darby, Kan.; and four sisters, Phyllis Bechtold of Oklahoma City, Caralyn McGuigan of Eugene, Ore., Edna Boland of Arizona City, Ariz. and Florence Martin of Oklahoma City. Friends who wish may make a donation in Jane’s memory to Hospice of the Owens Valley, 155 Pioneer Ln., Bishop, CA 93514.
John H. Munding 1929-2008
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 25 at the West Side District Cemetery in Taft for 18-year Lone Pine resident John H. Munding. Reverend Richard A. Menees of St. Paul’s Anglican Parish in Bakersfield will officiate. Born in Wasco on Oct. 10, 1929, John died April 18, 2008 in Bishop. He was 78. John went to school in Maricopa and later Taft High School. He graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo as an aeronautical engineer. As a boy, he was the California State Model Airplane Builders Champion, and as an adult went to work at the Space Technology Laboratories. He joined TRW in 1956 where he was a program manager on the Apollo 11 project in July of 1969 – “one giant leap for mankind” when Neil Armstrong set foot on the lunar surface. After 34 years with TRW (now Northrop Grumman), he moved to Lone Pine where he enjoyed flying his own plane and was a member of the Southern Inyo Airport Advisory Committee. John was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Munding, and his brother, Ace. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Munding of Lone Pine; son, John; daughter, Carol Pino-Williams; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Olin, Patricia Pino, Elizabeth Pino and Alexandra Pino; great-grandson, Paul; and nephew, Guy Lingo and wife Ann. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Inyo Mono Association for the Handicapped, 370 S. Warren St., Bishop, CA 93514.
Florence Kruse-Stanley 1920-2008
Services for longtime local resident Florence Kruse-Stanley will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25 at the First United Methodist Church of Bishop. Born in New Castle, Colo. on Nov. 7, 1920 to Thomas and Ivy Dwire, Florence died April 20, 2008 in Bishop. She was 87. In 1938, Florence married Bert. W. Kruse, who died in 1992. They started their family in Colorado and moved to Inyo County in 1953. From 1969 to 1986 they lived in Sagle, Ida. where they had many friends. In 1986, they returned to Bishop. Florence was lucky enough to meet Rowland Roosa Stanley who she married in 1996 and with whom she enjoyed seven fun and wonderful years of traveling including two cruises (the Inland Passage to Alaska and the Panama Canal). They were involved in church activities and many organizations, including Eastern Star, and they had various other interests. Rowland died in 2003. Florence was perhaps best known for her participation in the United Methodist Women and Eastern Star. She loved to bake and share bread and cookies with family, friends and neighbors. She took pride in keeping a beautiful home and garden. She entered many items in the fair wherever she lived and received many blue ribbons and awards. Known as “the pretty lady” to many, Florence will be missed by her family and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, her husband and her son, Albert Lee Kruse. She is survived by her brother, Elton Dwire of Oregon; sister, Lydia Gipson of Colorado; daughter, Ginger Sagran of Wellington, Nev.; granddaughter, Georgan Stottlemyre of Bishop; grandsons, Mark Kruse, Bob Wilson and Scott Kruse, all of Bishop; stepdaughter, Dorrie Howard of Ridgecrest; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Mindy and Dan Paranick of Crowley Lake; stepdaughter, Bobbi Dore of Bishop; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Donations in Florence’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Some of her favorites were the United Methodist Women, Hospice of the Owens Valley and Wild Iris. |
